On September 1, 2019, the Caribbean was hit by the worst hurricane it’s ever encountered. Hurricane Dorian destroyed most of central Abaco and its Cays, flattening the landscape, wiping out social and economical infrastructure, and killing thousands. Life was forever changed for these islands and for those who called them “home.”
It’s been over two years and yet more than 50% of people’s homes are still in ruins and people are still living without power or safe drinking water. Industry has been slow to recover as business owners have been faced with the dilemma of choosing to use what little resources they have to rebuild a home or to re-establish an income stream. That choice is harder than any of us can imagine.
The Liquid Legacy has been taking volunteer teams to Abaco since February 2020 and we’re committed to the long road of helping to rebuild homes, restore community, and support local businesses. To that end, together with our hosts at Schooner Bay, we’re inviting you to the inaugural Abaco Legacy Classic – a Bonefishing Tournament in April 2022 – to raise funds to assist in the rebuilding of homes and lives in Abaco, The Bahamas.
