The Big Picture

Who We Are

The Abaco Legacy Classic is a fundraiser for The Liquid Legacy – a Christ-centered, non-profit organization, committed to empowering individuals and groups in Peru and Abaco with the necessary skills and resources to effect change in their communities. We see the potential for locals to rise up and take on leadership roles within their families, villages/settlements, and workplaces, turning the obstacles they face into opportunities.

We believe this is best done in and through the local church, thereby strengthening and empowering Christians to play a more active role in the community, focusing more on their peers’ strengths and less on their weaknesses. The ripple effects are reestablishing people’s identity, reigniting their purpose, and restoring their dignity. This in turn reduces such widespread problems as poverty, apathy, hopelessness, and health issues… resulting in a quality of life that may seem more “normal” to us, but far exceeds their wildest dreams.

What We Do

We help ordinary people become extraordinary agents of change through sharing resources, serving the underprivileged, and loving our global neighbors as ourselves. We focus on the following areas…

Safe Drinking Water

We’ve seen great success in Peru by installing simple, chemical-free, locally-sourced filtration systems and have partnered with Living Waters for The World, through whom all our water teams have been trained. Along with providing safe drinking water, we teach the community how to use clean water… and we teach them how to teach others.

Medical Missions

Through medical, surgical, and dental teams, we provide general medical clinics in the Pucallpa area, we have surgical teams that perform much needed surgeries in the local hospital, and once a year, we travel deep into the Amazon jungle by boat, providing field clinics in rural villages along the river systems.

Community Development

We build partnerships with church leaders, community leaders, small business owners, and everyday people. We do that with the single goal of coming alongside them as equals, building friendships and trusted relationships so we can learn from each other.
